The objective of this course is to acquire basic conversation skills so that students will be able to discuss sports-related issues in English.　
様々なスポーツの話題が基本的な英語で会話できるようになる。

The contents of this course will describe aspects of “major” sports in Japan as well as to compare each internationally to discover the differences and similarities in each of the fields. Topics that will be covered are: Japanese professional baseball; sumo; and Japanese football (soccer).

Students enrolled in this course will be expected to keep updated on issues concerning international sport issues through media sources such as newspapers, TV and the internet. It is hoped that students make it a routine to seriously think about the various contemporary issues occurring around the world.
新聞やテレビ、インターネットにおける世界的なスポーツ問題をいつも追跡してほしいです。そしてその意味を常に冷静に考える習慣を身につけてください。毎週３０分ずつの予習と復習。

Material will be handed out during each session.　
資料は授業中に配布します。

Materials and books will be informed in the class.　
資料や関連書籍は授業中に指示します。

定期試験を実施します。

Grade evaluations will be based on 1) attendance, 2) reports, and 3) class discussions.
平常の出席状況と受講態度、レポート、討論参加などを総合的に評価します。
レポート、討論、プレゼンテーション等で７０％、出席状況、受講態度等で３０％の配分で評価します。

Students taking this course are recommended to have taken “The World’s Top Athletes from Japan.” Those who have not taken “The World’s Top Athletes from Japan” are recommended to enroll in this course the following term. Those students thinking of taking the course next term should to try to use English every day to prepare for in-class discussions. International students are welcome.
前期の「The World`s Top Athletes from Japan」 を履修すること、そして日常的に英会話の機会を持つことを進めます。
