The course requires no previous knowledge of Japanese. Class activities involve oral and written excercises， individual and pair work， and free and structured conversation in small groups. Students will be given the opportunity to learn about many different aspects of Japanese culture to help them make the transition to living in Japan easily and smoothly after coming from their respective countries. The homework given at every class are corrected in detail by teachers. At the end of the semester students will make speeches in Japanese as a culmination of their study.　　

This course is designed for the beginners to give practice in using grammatical structures in a communicative context in order to develop fluency and accuracy in the speaking and writing of Japanese

Please look up in your dictionary the new vocabulary by the next class. At least 60 minutes' self study a day will be required for the effective Japanese improvement.

Exams not done during regular exam period.　　

Students are expected to participate in all class activities including the speech in Japanese in order to receive a satisfactory grade. The grade will be based on : attendance of Japanese speech 5%，attendance 10%, homework 20%， midterm exam 30%， final exam 35%.
