The objective of this course is to acquire basic conversation skills so that students will be able to discuss sports-related issues in English.　
様々なスポーツの話題が基本的な英語で会話できるようになる。

The contents of this course will cover a number of Japanese athletes that have become famous in their field such as　Shohei Otani, Ichiro Suzuki (Major League Baseball), Noami Osaka (Tennis); Yuzuru Hanyu and Hinako Shibuno(Golf) and others including team sports such as rugby and soccer.
　
学生の身近なわかりやすいスポーツの話題を提供することでスポーツの知識を身に着け同時に基本的な英語力がつくようにします。Native speaker のナレーションを繰り返してシャドーィングして、優れた発音の習得を図ります。
またビジネス界で実際に使われる英語表現について、私の経験をベースにいくつかピックアップし、代表的なセンテンスや言い回しを覚えてもらいます。
例：　感謝の伝え方、会議の予定の確保、　複雑な交渉の表現、賛同の仕方、否定の仕方　など　

例年、学生の授業評価はほぼ満点（5点）を獲得。海外留学生との交流なども含めて、英語学習意欲の向上に直結する授業です。意欲の高い学生を希望します。

様々なスポーツの話題が基本的な英語で会話できるようになる。同時に、ビジネス英語で実際に頻繁に使われる表現を学習し、実際の場面で使用できることを目指す

Major Sports in Japan

Students enrolled in this course will be expected to keep updated on issues concerning international sport issues through media sources such as newspapers, TV and the internet. It is hoped that students make it a routine to seriously think about the various contemporary issues occurring around the world.

新聞やテレビないしインターネットにおける世界的なスポーツ問題をいつも追跡してほしいものです。そしてその意味を常に冷静に考える習慣を身につけてください。
毎週３０分ずつの予習、復習。　　

Material will be handed out during each session.　
資料は授業中に配布します。　

Materials and books will be informed in the class.　
資料や関連書籍は授業中に指示します。

定期試験を実施します

Grade evaluations will be based on 1) participation, 2) reports, 3) presentation, 4)test result

定期試験(60%),授業への参加度(20%)、レポート(10%)、最終プレゼン(10%)などを総合的に評価します。

（株）電通のISL事業局やスポーツマーケティング局に所属し、FIFA　World Cup, UEFA　Champions Leagueなどグローバルメガイベントのマーケティング業務に20数年従事。ISL本社（スイス）、電通スポーツヨーロッパ（ロンドン）の2度の駐在を体験する中,　英語力の獲得に非常に苦労した経験や重要性を授業に反映しています。

It is recommended to take “Major Sports in Japan” in the following term and to try to use English every day to prepare for in-class discussions. International students are welcome.
後期の「Major Sports in Japan」 を履修すること、そして日常的に英会話の機会を持つことを勧めます。
また、英語力向上には毎日の積み重ねが重要、その意味でレベル別に選べるNHKのラジオ講座のストリーミングも推奨します。
