授業内容
In this course, we will study "What is International Management?" based on an in-depth exploration of Japanese-style management. Several decades ago, Japanese-style management was praised in popular books such as "Japan as No.1" attracting attention from all over the world. Currently, however, it faces many serious difficulties and challenges, and it is now recognized that Japanese management must take a wider, global perspective. Under these circumstances, International Management has become an essential issue for Japanese companies. We believe that many of the challenges Japanese companies face can be shared with international students. By discussing these issues with you, we will deepen our knowledge of International Management.

The goal is to gain basic knowledge of " International Management", especially focusing on Japanese-style management. Since this course will comprise of lectures, student presentations and discussions, another objective is to improve the student's communication and presentation skills as well as to improve skills in group work.

Before attending each class session, please spend at least 30 minutes to prepare, including through looking up unfamiliar terms and words in advance based on the preparation information.

There is no textbook. Appropriate materials related to session topics will be distributed to students.

成績評価の方法
Grades will be determined as follows:
30% —Participation in discussions
40% —Research Papers(Twice)
30% —Presentation

Both Matsukawa and Tanahashi have worked in the real business world for many years and would like to bring their perspectives as researchers and practitioners to this International Business class.
備考
As participation in class discussions comprises a major part of the coursework, class attendance is required.
Note: Japanese students interested in taking the course are expected to have the equivalent of the following English proficiency: TOEIC 700 or over; TOEFL 500 or over (paper-based).
