Welcome to the course of Sport Culture in Japan. The contents of this course will involve the study of the history of Japanese sport and to include a contemporary perspective by examining the topics of “playing sport,” and "spectator sport.” Other topics covered will include: national sport policy; local government sport policy; status of professional sport in Japan; competitive sport, and others.

Only English can be used in this class.

日本のスポーツの歴史、現代社会における「するスポーツ」、「みるスポーツ」の実情、国のスポーツ政策、自治体のスポーツ政策、プロスポーツの実情、競技スポーツなど。

Sport is spread through the world and plays important roles. The objective of this course is to understand Japan through sport and and foster the challenging spirit through sport.

スポーツは世界各国で普及し、それぞれに重要な意味を持っています。本コースではスポーツを通して日本を理解し、チャレンジする力を育成します。

Students enrolled in this course will be expected to keep updated on issues concerning Japanese sport culture through media sources such as newspapers, TV and the internet. It is hoped that students make it a routine to seriously think about the various contemporary issues occurring around the world. Preparation will be needed more than one hour.?

新聞、テレビ、インターネットにおけるスポーツ文化に関する事象をいつも追跡してほしいです。そして、その意味を常に冷静に考える習慣を身に付けてください。予習は1時間以上が望ましい。

This course conducts regular examination.
定期試験を実施します。

Grade evaluations will be based on 1) Attendance and attitude of classroom (10%), 2) Discussion (10%), 3) Mid-term examination (20%), and 4) Final examination (60%).
Discussion will be stressed.

平常の出席状況と受講態度(10%)、討論参加(10%)、中間試験（20％）、期末試験(60%)。積極的な討論参加を高く評価します。

This course will invite special lecture from the Special Olympics Hiroshima due to understand sport culture in Hiroshima.

特別講師を招聘し、広島のスポーツ文化（特に知的障がい者のスポーツ）について解説していただく予定です。

Taking one of the following classes is desirable, English Proficiency Test Preparation Ⅰ-Ⅳ.
International students are also welcome.

This classroom is no different than any other on this campus and any campus of higher education. Your full attention during lectures is expected. Any activities that hinder the learning environment will result in your removal from the class.

Japanese students with a TOEIC score of 400 or higher will be better for this class.
