授業内容
This course covers globalization, the different theories of trade, trade barriers and other types of commercial policies, and international cooperation.

The student should be able to:
1.  identify "interesting and stylized facts" regarding the different types of countries, different standards of living, and the trade patterns among these countries;
2.  explain the various trade theories explaining why and how countries trade with each other;
3.  identify the various barriers which inhibit free trade and their effects on the economy;
4.  explain the types of preferential trade agreements and their effects on member and non-member countries.

Exams not done during regular exam period.
成績評価の方法
The student’s grade will be based on two exams (midterm (30%) and final (30%)), in-class exercises (30%), and class participation (10%).  Each exam is worth 100 points and consists of multiple choice, short answer questions, and problems.  Make-up exams will be given only to students with a VALID EXCUSE such as illness or death in the family or if cleared ahead of time (notify instructor well before the test date).  The final exam is not comprehensive. There will be no make-up for missed in-class exercises. In-class exercises and participation are opportunities for extra credit.

The instructor has 40 years of academic teaching experience in the U.S. and abroad (Japan, Taiwan, France, and Iraq). His research work has focused on industry and firm behavior, market concentration, trade and economic growth.
