This course is designed for students who have either taken “Japanese for Exchange Students (Intermediate class)” or who know sufficient basic Japanese to develop communicative competence. Students will be given the opportunity to learn about the Japanese people and their culture in order that they might be able to gain a better understanding of Japan as it really is. The homework given at every class are corrected in detail by teachers.

The four language skills， listening， speaking， reading and writing， will be emphasized equally. Some Chinese characters (kanji) necessary in daily life will be taught.

Please look up in your dictionary the new vocabulary by the next class. At least 60 minutes' self-study a day will be required for the effective Japanese improvement.

The textbook is selected according to the degree of students.

Students are expected to participate in all class activities in order to receive a satisfactory grade.
The final grade will be based on the following criteria: class participation (10%), homework (20%), the midterm exam (30%), and the final exam (40%).
